You can see this for yourself by meticulously inspecting a handful of black chia. Are all the seeds black? Quite the opposite, some are black, while others are brown, grayish, beige and white. If you were to choose all the whitish ones and cultivate them, the resultant crop would be white chia.

Based on this little experiment, you can see that the only real difference between black and white chia is the color. While supplementary scientific investigation may bring new evidence to light, for now it is probably advisable to keep a skeptical mind towards the claims of marketers who pronounce white chia is superior.

Does All Chia Have the Same Health Benefits?

No, it doesn’t. Even though color may not make a great deal of difference, there are definitely various aspects to take into account. For instance, the location of the crop, the sort of soil and the growing conditions can impact the standard of chia seeds health benefits.

Testing Your Chia

Because the quality can vary, as explained above, you should do a trial of your chia before committing to a large purchase. Procure a small portion. Mix a teaspoonful of chia in a glass of fresh water. After about ten minutes, the seeds should appear jellied. When you hold the glass up to the light, each seed seems to have a glowing halo. This is the clue of healthy chia.
